Vision and Purpose

The strategic challenge facing our institutions is based on understanding our vision and purpose

The strategic challenge facing our institutions is based on understanding our vision and purpose. Dr. Travis Bradberry says it this way:

"Whereas vision is a clear idea of where you’re going, a sense of purpose refers to an understanding of why you’re going there. People like to feel like they’re part of something bigger than themselves. Great leaders give people that feeling.”

This quote is from an article in the Huffington Post in May 2017. The entire article can be found at here.

There are all kinds of ways to approach institutional change and growth--see books and articles written by Dr. John Kotter, the Heaths and others. All these efforts begin with a common understanding of vision and purpose. The Fellows staff are re-framing several modules around the concept of visionary organizational leadership (thank you Dr. Anderson) to address these questions more clearly.

Please take the time to read Dr. Bradberry's article and book "Emotional Intelligence 2.0".
